Stewart Filmscreen Receives International Grand Prix Award for StudioTek 130 G3 Screen Material |
| |
Torrance, CA – January 30, 2008 - Stewart Filmscreen is proud to have received a Grand Prix Award from the Japanese publication HiVi for their StudioTek 130 G3 front projection screen. Thomas Stewart, CFO of Stewart Filmscreen, went to Japan to personally receive the award during a special awards ceremony attended by 135 of Japan's top audiovisual professionals.
StudioTek 130 G3 still offers the same reference standard of reflectivity and needed gain as the previous version, however, the newer G3 version offers a smoother screen surface with significantly less granularity, providing superior performance with the latest 1080p projectors.
HiVi praised StudioTek 130 G3 for its ability to take full advantage of 1080p resolutions with noticeably increased color saturation and detail. They found the G3 formulated screen, when compared with other screens, was able to display images with a higher dynamic range for pure white and black.
"We are pleased with HiVi's recognition of our StudioTek 130 G3 screen, which has also received an enthusiastic endorsement by Joe Kane Productions,” said Grant Stewart, President of Stewart Filmscreen. "With this new G3 optimization we have created what we believe will be the defacto reference screen for 1080p (and beyond) projection systems."

| Stewart Filmscreen Develops New Screen Materials for Optimal Viewing with Full 1080p HD Projectors |
- Redesigned Generation 3 (G3) FireHawk, GrayHawk and StudioTek materials offer superior performance with 1080p projectors and source materials
- The smoother screen surface enables more image detail of 1080p images on larger screen sizes
- New improvements provide greater depth, contrast and color saturation with higher (or better) uniformity
- Joe Kane of Joe Kane Productions endorses new GrayHawk RS G3 and StudioTek 130 G3 imaging materials
CES Las Vegas, NV and Torrance, CA – January 7, 2008 - Stewart Filmscreen Corporation®, the industry leader in precision projection screen solutions in the home cinema and commercial markets, will demonstrate their latest “Generation 3” versions of the highly popular FireHawk gray screen, the GrayHawk Reference Screen (RS) and StudioTek 130 during CES in Las Vegas this week.
All three complete a family of front projection screens that have been optimized for 1080p HD projectors. The ‘G3’ added to the model name distinguishes them from previous versions. Joe Kane of Joe Kane Productions (JKP) fully endorses the GrayHawk G3 and StudioTek 130 G3.
Stewart Filmscreen has always been at the forefront of front projection screen technology and the StudioTek 130 stood as the industry standard for over 15 years. However, it was recently discovered that the granularity of the surface was large enough to interfere with the individual pixels of the newer 1080p images. The StudioTek 130 still offers the same reference standard of reflectivity and needed gain, however, the new surface quality is now ready for 1080p, and higher definition formats to come. Learning during the process to create a new industry reference with a re-optimized StudioTek 130 was then applied to Stewart’s FireHawk and GrayHawk materials.
Why Was Optimization for 1080p Necessary?
The extra resolution capability of 1080p images doesn’t become really important until you expand the image up to sizes generally larger than what is available in flat panel displays. With the emergence of themed theaters and the use of curved (Cinemascope-type or Stewart’s CineCurve) screens, projected images are reaching sizes of 10 to 12 feet wide and even larger. In these situations, the image is large enough to recognize just how much detail really exists in the source material and resultant picture.
When we start blowing up the picture to these larger sizes, almost rivaling commercial cinemas, its necessary to have a screen surface that is fine enough to not interfere with the image. A course surface in the screen creates an interference pattern with the incoming detail.
As much as the original StudioTek 130 was designed for high definition images, the real resolution capability of these images wasn’t there yet, so it wasn’t known how relevant the texture of the screen’s surface would be once these higher resolutions had been realized. It’s only been the last couple of years that displays are living up to the promise of the HD system that was just being standardized 15 years ago and valid 1080p material became relatively popular.
Another key factor that could not be anticipated until now was the number of affordable projectors that would be capable of lighting up screens large enough to clearly show the extra detail. In the days of CRT projectors, a single projector had trouble lighting up a six or seven foot wide image. That size wasn’t large enough for a 1080p image. Analog projectors often rolled off fine details in the circuits driving the CRT. The projector could scan at 1080p rates but couldn’t reproduce the detail contained in the image.
Another major advantage to this new G3 material when combined with 1080p content is that viewers can sit closer to the screen, allowing a much larger field of view, creating a more immersive experience.
Stewart’s re-optimization of the FireHawk, GrayHawk RS and StudioTek 130’s optical coating improves pixel density to ensure the best possible transparency (imaging or resolution) of 1080p (and higher) resolution images. To that end, all three G3 screen materials provide greater depth, contrast and color saturation than previous versions. The materials used for all G3 screens are formulated with reduced surface texture, allowing for larger screen sizes due to the higher resolution. In fact, it is very easy to feel the difference in the original Stewart screen surfaces and the new G3 versions, which are noticeably smoother to the touch. The superior performance is so compelling and film-like, that the delivery system becomes completely undetectable.
JKP Endorsement
The development of the new G3 designs was a collaborative effort between Stewart Filmscreen and Joe Kane Productions. The StudioTek 130 has been Joe Kane’s reference screen ever since it’s introduction at the 1992 Chicago Consumer Electronics Show by Joe Kane and Stewart Filmscreen. A few years later, Stewart developed the GrayHawk RS, also in collaboration with JKP, which was designed specifically for DLP projectors.
Today, Joe Kane and Stewart Filmscreen repeat history with the new StudioTek 130 G3. The improvements that were integrated into the G3 versions of the StudioTek 130 and GrayHawk G3 where closely monitored and supervised by JKP. Both screens are fully endorsed by JKP, representing the only two screen materials in the world with this distinction.
“We are excited by Joe Kane’s endorsement because it validates that we have met our objectives in designing G3 materials and that he recognizes our commitment to providing the best image fidelity possible. We designed the Generation 3 StudioTek 130 and GrayHawk reference to be among the best screen materials in the world for today’s advanced 1080p projectors and large format Home Cinemas,” says Grant Stewart, President of Stewart Filmscreen.
Stewart Filmscreen will have demonstrations of the new G3 screens at their booth # 21458 South Hall 1 in the Las Vegas Convention Center. All their screen materials are now shipping. Also during CES, Joe Kane will be conducting demonstrations with a 10-foot StudioTek 130 G3 and the Samsung SP-A800 1080p projector at the Samsung booth #11033.

STEWART INTRODUCES STARLIFT, A MOTORIZED LIFT THAT ELEVATES THE FUTURISTIC SCREEN FROM A HIDDEN POSITION
CES Las Vegas, NV and Torrance, CA – January 6, 2008 - Stewart Filmscreen Corporation®, the industry leader in precision projection screen technologies for the home cinema and commercial markets, announces the availability of the StarLift, a motorized mechanism designed to raise and lower the innovative StarGlas rear projection screen.
StarGlas is a remarkable engineering and visual achievement that takes a thin image layer and sandwiches it between two pieces of glass. The highly versatile StarGlas qualifies as safety glass and is extremely durable allowing architects and A/V integrators to use this specially engineered glass for exciting and distinctive visual applications. The StarLift is a convenient and efficient way to house this large piece of glass, allowing an installer to place a StarGlas screen virtually anywhere such as in a bedroom or media room. The StarLift mechanism can be integrated into a piece of furniture, allowing the screen to be hidden from view until needed.
The StarLift is available in two models and comes pre-installed with a StarGlas screen. The 65H (diagonal) can be fully extended with a height of 34-inches and 57-inches wide. The larger 72H (diagonal) is 37-inches high with a width of 63-inches. There are two types of StarGlas materials that can be used depending on the application, the StarGlas 60 and the StarGlas 100. The StarGlas 60 is the largest black screen in the world and offers a peak gain of .60 making it highly resistive to ambient light. It is suitable for a variety of residential applications such as media rooms and patio theaters. The StarGlas 100 is set at a peak gain of 1.0 and is an alternative to flat panel TVs and front screens that would be used in darker environments. Capable of blocking 100% of UV light, the StarGlas screens are abrasion and stain resistant. Unlike other screen materials StarGlas is completely non-combustible.
“StarGlas is one of the most successful and intriguing products we’ve ever introduced, especially for the commercial market,” says Joaquin Rivera, Director of Sales for Stewart Filmscreen. “The StarLift, however, provides us the opportunity to bring this unique product to the residential market in a big way. Flat Panel TVs are extremely popular but they are limited by size and visual performance. Our installers like to create unforgettable and WOW-type installations for their customers. The StarLift provides them with the needed solution to specify StarGlas as a new type of screen material in home installations.”
Stewart is well known for several core technology families including the FireHawk, GrayHawk, StudioTek, CineCurve and StarGlas screens. As a solutions-based company, Stewart’s state-of–the art projection systems are the first choice among systems integrators for a wide variety of residential and commercial applications. Stewart screens are engineered to meet the most rigorous optical and installation requirements, excelling at custom designs for unique projects with highly technical specifications.

Stewart Filmscreen Demonstrates Several Technological Innovations during CEDIA ‘07
CEDIA Denver, CO – Sept. 5, 2007 - Stewart Filmscreen Corporation®, the industry leader in precision projection technology in the home cinema and commercial markets, will demonstrate a 45-inch by 103-inch GrayHawk Reference Screen G3. This show-stopping event highlights the improvements of the new screen materials and how it has been optimized for 1080p projectors. Stewart will also be conducting live demonstrations with several more of their industry reference projection systems.
The ultra-large screen demonstration exemplifies Stewart Filmscreen’s position as a solutions-based company. They are the ultimate partners for any A/V custom retailer or systems integrator, as they will assemble any size screen, using any one of their exclusive materials, which is completely customized for each customer’s specific needs.
“We work closely with our dealers and custom installers to ensure that each screen is the perfect screen for that particular installation”, said Joaquin Rivera, Director of Sales for Stewart Filmscreen. “What we teach our dealers is they should start with the screen when building a video system. There are so many factors in determining the best screen for a given installation such as lighting, environmental conditions, the seating arrangements and the audio system. For optimum performance the projector should match the screen, not the other way around.”
GrayHawk and StudioTek 130 G3
The big product announcement from Stewart during CEDIA is the availability of “Generation 3” versions for both the GrayHawk Reference Screen and the StudioTek 130. Like the FireHawk G3, these two screens now benefit from several improvements that optimize them for superior performance with 1080p projectors and source material. Stewart’s redesign of the GrayHawk RS and StudioTek 130’s optical coating improves pixel density to ensure the best possible transparency of 1080p (and higher) resolution images. The result is greater depth, contrast and color saturation with improved resolution, clarity and realism. The materials used for both screens are formulated with reduced surface texture, allowing for larger screen sizes due to the higher resolution. The superior performance is so compelling and film-like the delivery system becomes completely undetectable.
“We are embracing the age of high-definition by offering screens engineered specifically for 1080p,” says Joaquin Rivera, Director of Sales for Stewart Filmscreen. “The GrayHawk G3 and Studiotek 130 G3, along with the previously released FireHawk G3, are the perfect companions for the latest generation of 1080p projectors, providing stunning high-definition images. At Stewart, our objective is to take a great looking image, and make it look better. Working with our customers to create the highest image fidelity is our first priority.”
CineCurve – the truest home cinema experience
With more and more projectors supporting the Cinescope format, Stewart’s CineCurve, a native 2.40:1 curved multi-format screen is fast becoming one of the most popular and sought-after models by the best systems integrators in the industry. Receiving industry-wide critical acclaim and numerous awards including the 2006 CEDIA’s Manufacturing Excellence Award, the CineCurve provides maximum visual impact allowing viewers to enjoy movies in the original super-wide cinema format.
In the home cinema market the missing link that commercial theaters already had was the constant vertical height screen. The CineCurve screen from Stewart allows consumers to view CineScope movies in their original aspect ratio without the annoying black bars on the top, bottom and sides. This promotes greater flexibility of viewing full 2.35:1 images when using an anamorphic lens. To create a more cinema-like experience from all sources, the electronically controlled masking panels are adjusted based on the source’s aspect ratio (i.e. 1.33:1, 1.78:1, 1.85:1, 2.35:1, 2.40:1, etc.).
The slight curve of this impressive projection screen dramatically enhances any super-wide screen image by creating an increased sense of immersion. This unique feature allows projected light to reflect back towards the audience rather than the walls to ensure a dramatic increase in brightness, improved uniformity, and superior contrast levels. It’s possible to choose from any of
Stewart’s front or rear projection screen materials to ensure maximum performance in any environment and any screen can utilize the acoustically transparent Microperf X2. The VeLux™ black velvet appliqué frame finish absorbs any over scan and provides a luxurious feel.
StarGlas
StarGlas, Stewart’s revolutionary rear projection screen provides stunning images, even in high ambient light environments. Winner of the EH Product of the Year, the StarGlas screen continues to amaze with its innovative material that can be used in a wide variety of creative applications. The latest new StarGlas model is the ‘Walk-About’, a custom configuration of StarGlas that consists of multiple layers of extremely durable StarGlas material. As the name implies it’s possible to walk on the screen providing the most imaginative uses for commercial and advertising applications. It can be installed as flooring, allowing people to watch bright, vivid images, while standing, walking, dancing, or mingling. All Walk-About applications are custom-engineered depending on the span, mounting, intended use, anticipated weight load, and structural needs required of this specialized installation. The Walk-About is currently available in sizes up to 4 feet by 7 feet and is typically 2.5 inches thick.
StarGlas qualifies as safety glass and leading architects have identified StarGlas as a genuine building material. Glass stairways, retail storefronts, and lounge area tabletops are just a few examples of where this revolutionary screen can be utilized. StarGlas is also available in curved formats to match any custom building design.
Stewart will soon offer a special motorized lift for StarGlas screens that can be used in entertainment centers to hide the screen when not in use, offering consumers a high-end alternative to LCD and plasma TVs.
Microperf X2
Microperf X2 is the latest version of Stewart’s THX Ultra certified acoustically transparent screen that completely eliminates the moiré. Stewart Microperf X2 screens are superior in image quality than standard woven screens, with up to 70% more brightness, higher resolution, and superior color saturation. Viewers sitting at the appropriate viewing distance from the screen will not see the Microperf pattern. Stewart Microperf X2 acoustically transparent screens are the largest seamless acoustically transparent screens on the market, and are available in all of Stewart’s screen materials including the new GrayHawk RS G3 and the StudioTek 130 G3.

Stewart Filmscreen Optimizes GrayHawk RS G3 and StudioTek G3 for 1080p HD Projectors
CEDIA Denver, CO – Sept. 5, 2007 - Stewart Filmscreen Corporation®, the industry leader in precision projection technology in the home cinema and commercial markets, will demonstrate their latest “Generation 3” versions of the highly popular GrayHawk Reference Screen (RS) and StudioTek 130 front projection screens. Following last year’s release of the FireHawk G3 1080p, this now completes a family of front projection screens optimized for 1080p HD projectors.
The GrayHawk RS G3 and StudioTek 130 G3 are the next generation of Stewart’s most popular home cinema front projection screen materials. Both have been redesigned specifically for 1080p projectors and source material. True 1080p has arrived with a wide assortment of both projectors and source devices to choose from. Stewart’s re-optimization of the GrayHawk RS and StudioTek 130’s optical coating improves pixel density to ensure the best possible transparency (imaging or resolution) of 1080p (and higher) resolution images. To that end, both the GrayHawk RS G3 and StudioTek 130 G3 provide greater depth, contrast and color saturation than previous versions. The materials used for both screens are formulated with reduced surface texture, allowing for larger screen sizes due to the higher resolution. The superior performance is so compelling and film-like that the delivery system becomes completely undetectable.
The G3’s ultra-fine optical coating improves uniformity for consistent brightness across the entire screen. Optimized for significantly improved contrast ratio, regardless of the projector, GrayHawk G3 1080p has a gain of .92, with a half gain of 64 degrees. StudioTek 130 is rated with a slightly higher gain of 1.3 and a half gain of 42 degrees.
“We are embracing the age of high-definition by offering materials engineered specifically for 1080p,” says Joaquin Rivera, Director of Sales for Stewart Filmscreen.
“GrayHawk G3 and StudioTek 130 G3, along with the previously released FireHawk G3, are the perfect companions for the latest generation of 1080p projectors, providing stunning high-definition images. At Stewart, our objective is to take a great looking image, and make it look better. Working with our customers to create the highest image fidelity is our first priority.”
GrayHawk RS was the first gray reference screen and has become extremely popular with custom installers and systems integrators. This below unity gain screen serves as the perfect companion for today’s ultra-bright projectors that may lack high contrast and in black level. The StudioTek 130 is without question the industry’s reference screen, offering 30% more brightness than the average matte-white screen. Joe Kane and the ISF have certified both of their predecessors. The improvements that were integrated into the G3 versions of these two screen materials were closely monitored and supervised by Joe Kane and his official certification of the G3 versions will be announced soon after CEDIA.
In a super high fidelity display, Stewart Filmscreen will showcase the new GrayHawk RS G3 in the biggest way possible, with a 45-inch by 103-inch screen and Runco1080p projector for what will prove to be the image to see during CEDIA ’07. To see this demonstration and other Stewart Filmscreen products visit them at Booth #316 at the Colorado Convention Center.

CES 2007: STEWART FILMSCREEN NAMED 2007 DESIGN & ENGINEERING INNOVATIONS HONOREE
New York, NY- November 8, 2006 – The Consumer Electronics Association (CEA®) announced Stewart Filmscreen Corporation® as a 2007 International CES Design and Engineering Innovations Honoree for the revolutionary CineCurve®, the new curved constant height multi-masking screen at the CES New York Press Preview. All products that are entered were judged by an independent panel of industrial designers, engineers, and members of the trade press. This award program was formed to honor outstanding design and engineering in cutting-edge consumer electronics.

The CineCurve is a 2.40:1 multi-masking screen that maintains a constant vertical height, providing you with the largest cinemascope image when used with a projector and anamorphic lens and eliminates any possibility of black bars.
The concave shape of the CineCurve, unlike a flat screen, focuses light coming from the screen towards the audience, making the image appear brighter. The curvature also limits the amount of light that reflects onto the walls, helping to eliminate cross reflection that may compromise image quality. Viewing angles are also improved due to the distance from the screen’s edges to the audience is the same as the distance from the center of the screen. Because the screen is curved, the CineCurve completely immerses the viewer in a cinematic experience and allows them to connect emotionally with their source material.
The Stewart CineCurve can accommodate any aspect ratio you desire with its unique multi-masking system, while maintaining a constant height. The electronically controlled masking panels slide in from either side of the image area to create the correct screen size for the desired format.
“We are extremely proud that the consumer electronics industry is recognizing CineCurve as the groundbreaking product it is,” says Joaquin Rivera, Director of Sales. “With this product, we have initiated the trend of watching Cinemascope movies in the home.”
As a widely renowned consumer technology awards program that began in 1989, the Innovations Design and Engineering Awards recognize achievements in product design and engineering. Sponsored by CEA, the producer of the International CES, the world’s largest consumer technology tradeshow, and endorsed by the Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA), the voice of industrial design, is committed to advancing the profession through education, information, community, and advocacy.
The Innovations entries are judged based on the following criteria:
-
Engineering qualities of the product, including technical specifications and materials used
-
The product’s intended use/function and user value
-
Aesthetic and design qualities (using visuals provided)
-
Unique and novel features
-
Contributions to consumers’ quality of life
-
Impact on the manufacturer’s business model
Stewart CineCurve will be displayed at the 2007 International CES – Booth# 25321, which runs January 8-11, 2007 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Visit www.CESweb.org/innovations for details on Innovations 2007 Design and Engineering Honorees.

STEWART BRINGS A NEW INNOVATIVE “BUILDING MATERIAL” TO INTEGRATED SYSTEMS EUROPE 2007
Torrance, CA - December 23, 2006 - Stewart Filmscreen Corporation®, industry leader in precision projection technology will bring the newest innovative “building material” to Integrated Systems Europe 2007, being held at the Amsterdam RAI, January 30 – February 1.
Up until now, projection screens were considered a technology product. Stewart Filmscreen has crossed that barrier with StarGlas. Leading architects have identified StarGlas as a genuine building material. Glass stairway railings, retail storefronts, and lounge area tabletops are only a few examples of where this new innovative building material can be utilized. StarGlas is the world’s first precision projection screen designed for boardrooms, or any location where visual presentations are essential.
StarGlas contains a unique, proprietary diffusion screen layer laminated between specially formulated glass substrate, which helps dramatically boost the amount of forward light transmission while reducing backscatter, provides superb uniformity, and creates extraordinary contrast. StarGlas qualifies as safety glass, which means it can be installed where this type of specially rated glass is specified in the building codes. StarGlas can sit directly on the ground, where ordinary glass must be placed at least 1500mm above the floor. This groundbreaking screen design now allows for actual floor to ceiling video wall applications.
The image quality that StarGlas provides is stunning, even within environments where high ambient light is present. This revolutionary technology is an industry first, brought to you by none other than the leader in precision projection technology, Stewart Filmscreen Corporation.
Stop by Stewart booth# F110 during ISE ‘07 for a glimpse of StarGlas in action. For additional information on this international event, visit the Integrated Systems Europe website http://www.iseurope.org.

STEWART SHOWS FIREHAWK G3 1080P AT ISE 2007: THE WORLD’S FIRST SCREEN ENGINEERED FOR 1080P PROJECTORS
Amsterdam, NL - January 30, 2007 — Stewart Filmscreen Corporation® (Booth F110)—the industry leader in precision projection screen technology in the home cinema and commercial markets—introduced its new FireHawk G3 1080p screen material today at ISE 2007. FireHawk G3 1080p—the next generation of Stewart’s most popular home cinema projection screen—is the first screen specifically designed for 1080p projectors and source material.
FireHawk G3 1080p is aimed squarely at the latest projection technologies emerging at ISE. The longpromised true 1080p projectors are here. Pixel density is improved and the high-quality content is more transparent than ever before. This means that the screen must also disappear in concert with the pixel structure. The goal is to deliver depth, contrast, color, and resolution with enough excellence that the delivery system is not detectable.
Firehawk G3 1080p accomplishes these goals. It is formulated with reduced surface texture, making the screen itself invisible and allowing the image to shine. FireHawk G3 1080p has a gain of 1.25, with a usable viewing cone of 28 degrees on either side. This allows brightly lit content to remain lively and vivid. The gain characteristic also allows the system designer to consider larger image sizes with single-chip DLP projectors, LCOS, or smaller LCD platforms.
“We are embracing the new age of high-definition by offering the first screen engineered for 1080p,” says Grant Stewart, president of Stewart Filmscreen. “With FireHawk G3 1080p, the new 1080p projectors have a readily available and complementary screen to further enhance the stunning image provided by high-def 1080p. At Stewart, our objective is to take a great looking image, and make it look better with our products. Image fidelity is the top priority.”
FireHawk G3 1080p is available in Stewart’s new Microperf X2 THX Ultra certified acoustically transparent screen, which offers the best possible audio transmission, while completely eliminating moiré.

Stewart Filmscreen Steals the Show at 2007 Integrated Systems Europe
Torrance, CA, February 5, 2007—Stewart Filmscreen Corporation®—industry leader in precision projection technology in the home cinema and commercial markets is proud to report a very successful 2007 Integrated Systems Europe. The show took place January 29-31, 2007 at the RAI Convention Center in Amsterdam, NL and broke records with attendance figures exceeding 16,000 along with more than 40 conference and educational sessions.
Stewart was the star of the show boasting the best image fidelity on the floor. The revolutionary new StarGlas® rear-projection screen—garnered a huge buzz. Available in two configurations, StarGlas 60 (0.60 gain) and StarGlas 100 (1.0 gain), which can be used in a variety of rear-projection applications. StarGlas 60, world’s largest black screen, offers the highest contrast ratios available for large-format rear projection applications. StarGlas 100 is an excellent choice when edge blending is required.
“We are extremely proud to show Stewart’s exciting and innovative products to the European market,” says Kasper Mortensen, Sales Manager-Stewart Filmscreen Europe. “With record sales in Europe for 2006, the ISE show has set the path for an excellent 2007.”
The multi-award winning CineCurve, the first curved multi-masking screen available in the home cinema market was a showstopper, offered in a 2.40:1 format to provide you with the flexibility of viewing a full 2.35:1 image when using an anamorphic lens. The CineCurve’s multi-masking capabilities eliminate annoying black bars when watching various aspect ratios such as HDTV (16:9) or NTSC (4:3).
Show-goers were impressed with Stewart’s MicroPerf X2, the next generation of acoustically transparent screen material. Attendees were given the ability to view a side-by-side comparison of the MicroPerf X2 and a woven screen product to prove Stewart Filmscreen is #1 when it comes to providing the highest quality image without reducing audio fidelity.
Stewart was well represented by many manufacturers at ISE this year. In fact, within the Large Venue Shootout, Sony made the decision to replace the existing non-Stewart projection screen they had planned to utilize with a Stewart AT-Series screen with SnoMatte 100 projection material to enhance their product, providing a superior picture.
Attendees gave accolades to the new FireHawk G³ 1080p, the only screen material specifically engineered for 1080p projectors. Also displayed statically at the show was FireHawk SST, a projection screen material engineered specifically for use with Sony’s VPL-VW50 SXRD projector.

STEWART BRINGS HOME 2 AWARDS FROM THE '06 WORSHIP FACILITES CONFERENCE & EXPO
Dallas, Texas - November 10, 2006 - Stewart Filmscreen Corporation® announced receiving not one, but two awards from the recent Worship Facilities Conference & Expo (WFX) held at the Dallas Convention Center. Presented by Church Production, Worship Facilities, and Church Sound Magazines, this new awards program was specifically aimed at recognizing the most innovative new building and technology products to hit the house of worship market.
Participating for the first time at WFX, Stewart Filmscreen’s AllRise® was honored with the award for Best Video Screen, while StarGlas®, a new groundbreaking rear projection screen received Best Overall Video Display Product.
AllRise®
The AllRise responds to demand from the house of worship market for a large-format, electrically operated screen that does not require a permanently installed ceiling-mounted enclosure. Impressively sized at up to 15'x20', the AllRise has unique arms that move to the sides when fully extended, leaving the light path to the image area unobstructed for rear-projection applications. Of course, the AllRise can also be used for front projection. The AllRise is perfect for the house of worship market, where high cathedral ceilings prohibit a ceiling mount, rear projection is often preferable, and religious icons and inspiring architecture dictate the need for a screen that is hidden when not in use. When the video presentation is over, the screen disappears back into its casing, allowing the spirituality of the sanctuary to take center stage.
StarGlas®
Recent trends show that more and more worship facilities are using rear-projection screens to provide a large picture and to compete with high ambient light conditions. StarGlas, a rigid rear-projection screen, provides both a big picture and an extremely bright image even in environments where the light can not be controlled. The unique, proprietary diffusion screen layer laminated between a specially formulated glass substrate helps dramatically boost the amount of forward light transmission while reducing backscatter, provides uniformity, eliminates any potential “hot-spotting”, and creates extraordinary contrast. StarGlas also has viewing angles that can accommodate large audiences whether you are sitting front-and-center or off to the sides.
StarGlas qualifies as safety glass and can be installed where these regulations are specified in building codes. This screen can also be mounted directly onto the ground allowing for full floor to ceiling video wall applications. Just as ordinary glass used in windows, this innovative screen will not be harmed by everyday sunlight exposure, it cleans extremely easily, and has a long lifespan, allowing you to make a one-time investment on the perfect screen, without having to upgrade or replace it in years to come.
