What Are 3D and 5D Screens?

Stereoscopic viewing is standard vocabulary in post-production, simulation, theme park, gaming and in many custom home theatres.
We've worked hard on understanding 3D and we offer a comprehensive set of fabric solutions for polarized 3D, active glasses 3D and color differential 3D systems and for workflows which combine 3D and 2D viewing.

When do you need a 3D or 5D silver screen material? There are passive 3D projectors which require silver screens and who use polarizing methods to allow the use of passive 3D glasses for use in movie theaters. Silver screens must retain close to 100% of the polarization otherwise visible 3D cross-talk or ghosting will occur. This generally means that you must use a silver screen that is made specifically for use with passive 3D projection systems.

Stewart’s 3D and 5D silver screen material will provide the polarization needed for passive 3D projection system. A passive 3D projector’s filter will lose approximate 50% of the brightness, therefore the other requirement for 3D and 5D silver screens is to increase the reflectivity (gain value) by approximately double over standard 2D screens for appropriate image brightness levels.

Stewart’s 3D silver screen will provide you with the best polarization and brightness for passive 3D projection and Stewart’s 5D silver screen has the just right amount of reflectivity (gain value) for both 2D and 3D projection system.
